STEM Middle School

STEM Challenge

Dear parents and students of STEM Middle School,

As we continue to navigate our way through COVID-19, the STEM Middle School would like to present an after school club for our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders looking to connect with friends and take on a challenge. Now what is this club? The STEM Challenge, is a club that requires teamwork, thinking outside the box, working with new classmates, and good competition. This will be held once a week after school for 45 mins to an hour.

Each week students will be asked to complete a challenge when they are split into breakout groups. If students email me at least two days prior a list of 4 or less teammates they want to work with, that can be their team. Please do not worry if you do not have a group prior to our time! Once everyone has joined we will go over the challenge idea and rules that day. Groups will break out and come up with fun and new ideas to complete this challenge. They will have at least 20-30 minutes until they will come back and present their idea to the other groups but most importantly the judges! A winner will be determined by the end. The winners names will be announced and documented so when we come back to in-person learning, the winners will come down to my office and select a prize!

During this challenge please expect that cameras and microphones will be used, especially when having to present your idea to the judges. As always, we will be mindful, respectful, responsible, and humble during this challenge.

We look forward to hosting our first challenge February 9, 2021 at 1:30! For the first meet please email that you will be joining so I can send you the zoom link!

As Effie Trinket from Hunger Games would say, “May the odds ever be in your favor.”
