STEM Middle School

Announcements

Hello STEM Families!  Please see some important announcements/information for this week:

OPEN HOUSE:  While the district calendar shows that STEM has an open house tomorrow, we DO NOT have an open house.  We had our open house the week before school started.

SPIRIT WEAR:  Our annual t-shirt/hoodie sale starts today.  Students were given an order form today in Advisory.  If you would like to place an order, all money and order forms are due TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st.  All sizes are adult sizes.  Order forms are also attached to this post.  We will not have a spring sale.

PICTURE DAY:  Picture day is next Monday, September 13th.  Order forms are available from teachers OR you can order and pay online. go to mylifetouch.com and use the Picture Day ID: EVTMBNF8S  to place an order.

DROP OFF/PICK UP:  Thank you to everyone for pulling all the way down and having students exit/enter as quickly as possible.  Please also remember to slow down in the parking lot and to follow the arrows that direct traffic flow.  Kids always assume that you see them and that you will stop.

LATE WORK POLICY:Now that we are getting into the swing of things, classwork, homework, and projects will start being assigned and collected.  STEM’s late work policy is as follows (this is a change from last year):

Late Policy:
While we all recognize that there will be times that a student is not able to finish the work or that s/he may have a forgetful moment, we want to make sure that every student is able to be successful in class.  In order to be successful in class, classwork, homework, and summative assignments need to be turned in ON TIME.  For the occasional time when a student needs to turn in a late assignment, formative work (classwork, homework, bellworks) can be turned in no later than 4PM on Friday.  After that, the assignment will receive a zero.  To be clear, if a teacher assigns a task and sets the due date as Tuesday before class, that is the due date.  The Friday by 4PM is not the deadline students should be aiming for.
Summative assignments (long term projects and those assignments that are worth test grades) only have a 48 hour window to be turned in.  After that, the assignment will be scored at 50% of its value.
Students who are absent from school are still responsible for the work that they missed.  Please be sure to check Schoology and with teachers about what was missed in class when it should be turned in.
