STEM Admissions criteria
STEM school provides an accelerated learning pathway for middle school students, while following the middle school curriculum and resources adopted across the district.
Students can qualify for sixth grade admission through one of two pathways.
Pathway 1
Most students qualify via this method. The student must:
- Score in the 80th percentile or above on both the math and reading spring or winter iReady tests, (Note, starting in 2027, only winter iReady scores will be considered) and
- Score Proficient (Level 3) or Advanced (Level 4) on the fourth grade English and math M-STEP.
Pathway 2
Current Dearborn Public School fifth grade students who have documented opt-out of standardized testing must meet all of the following criteria.
- Score a 1 in all areas of reading and math in marking period 2,
- Receive a teacher and administrator recommendation of eligibility, including showing the student is on track to be successful in advanced math, and
- Score proficient or advanced on a STEM admission writing prompt.
Application for those who need
The applications below are only for two sets of students.
1. Current 6th graders who are attending a Dearborn Public School. If you are a 5th grade student, do not fill out this application. Please understand that admissions for next year also depends on the number of seats that are available for the 2025-2026 school year in the 7th grade class.
OR
2. Fifth or sixth grade students who do NOT currently attend a Dearborn Public School, but live in the Dearborn Public School boundaries. Before you begin, be sure to have the following available: full names and email addresses for your current teachers; your most recent report card, and all Standardized Test scores from this school year (in electronic form).
Last day to submit an application is FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026
